Phone Scam Targets Card Information

There have been several reports of a new phone scam that seeks to gain banking information from area residents. A computer generated voice states that your card has been locked or frozen and asks for you to type in your 16-digit card number. The voice sometimes claims to be from German American Bank but other times does not name a financial institution. These calls appear as blocked, unknown, and 1-888 numbers. Note that Liberty Federal Credit Union would NEVER call you to verify account information such as debit/credit card numbers as we already have the necessary information. It is possible to receive a call from our fraud service but you would only be asked to verify transaction information. Your security is exceedingly important to us. If you receive a phone call or text message claiming to be from us or any financial institution and have concerns, please DO NOT give out any personal or account information
